New Brand Finance report crowns dairy giants as India’s top food brands, showcasing sector’s robust growth and consumer trust.
In a powerful testament to the strength of India’s dairy sector, a recent Brand Finance report for 2025 has identified Amul and Mother Dairy as the nation’s leading food brands. Amul, a household name, has robustly maintained its premier position with an impressive brand value of USD 4.1 billion. Hot on its heels, Mother Dairy secured the second spot, boasting a brand value of USD 1.15 billion and successfully climbing a rank from its previous year’s standing. This recognition underscores the vital role of dairy economics in India’s booming consumer market.
Following these dairy giants in the prestigious rankings are other well-known brands such as Britannia, Nandini, and Dabur, showcasing the diverse landscape of India’s food industry. However, the top two spots firmly held by dairy cooperatives highlight their unparalleled reach and consumer trust. Both Amul, marketed by the Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF), and Mother Dairy, a subsidiary of the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB), attribute their strong performance to an unwavering commitment to delivering quality products.
Mother Dairy, in particular, demonstrated significant momentum, not only improving its standing within the food category but also climbing substantially in the overall ranking of India’s top 100 brands across all industries. Moving from 41st in 2024 to 35th in 2025, Mother Dairy’s ascent reflects its robust growth, achieving an estimated turnover of approximately Rs 17,500 crores (around USD 2.1 billion) in 2024-25. Its diversified product portfolio, including Dhara edible oils and Safal fruits and vegetables, contributes to its extensive market presence.
Amul’s continued dominance is equally noteworthy. As the world’s largest farmer-owned dairy cooperative, GCMMF exemplifies the power of collective milk production, collecting an astounding 32 million liters of milk daily from its vast network of dairy farmers. Amul’s products are not just confined to India; they are marketed globally, further cementing its status as a major player in the international dairy community.
Ultimately, the Brand Finance 2025 report reaffirms the leading positions of Amul and Mother Dairy as titans of the Indian food industry. Their success story is rooted in quality assurance, strategic diversification, and massive cooperative strength, demonstrating how a focus on agribusiness fundamentals can create enduring brand value and drive significant economic impact in a rapidly growing market.
