Madurai Aavin will disburse money to dairy farmers supplying milk to the milk producers’ federation limited, only through their bank accounts.
In a statement, Madurai district collector M S Sangeetha said there are 697 dairy farmers’ associations under Aavin, Madurai, and 15,798 dairy farmers in the district. They supply 1.54 lakh litres of milk to Aavin every day. The associations disburse the milk procurement money once every 10 days, while the incentive of 3 per litre to farmers is settled once a month.
According to a govt order, the settlement money paid once every 10 days to associations should be deposited in the bank accounts of dairy farmers.
Therefore, the dairy farmers are encouraged to start bank accounts without any delay. All the banks have been directed to facilitate the farmers in starting their accounts without any delay. Aavin management will conduct awareness programmes on the benefits of bank transfers, said the collector.
