Members of the Andhra Pradesh Milk Producers Association organised a sit-in at the Visakha Dairy on Monday. Several milk producer and farmer organisations participated in the demonstration.

Addressing the gathering, Andhra Pradesh Farmers Association state general secretary M. Suryanarayana and Anakapalle district general secretary Karri Apparao demanded fair compensation for milk, with cow milk priced at Rs 50 per litre and buffalo milk at Rs 80 per litre.

They called for an independent inquiry to investigate corruption and irregularities within the dairy industry.

The Visakha Dairy managing director assured milk farmers that the dairy board will discuss their issues and resolve them.

Farmers’ leader G. Naina Babu, AIDWA leaders D. Varalakshmi and Manikyam, and CITU leader M. Rambabu were among those who participated in the protest.
