The Telangana Rythu Sangham, a collective representing dairy farmers, has sought the intervention of the Telangana State Dairy Development Cooperative Federation (TSDDCF) to address a myriad of challenges plaguing the dairy community. The sangham, represented by their state general secretary T. Sagar, state president P. Janga Reddy, and state joint secretary Mood Shoban, presented a case for urgent attention and assistance.
Mounting Financial Strain
The sangham has raised an alarm over the non-clearance of pending bills by Vijaya Dairy, a state-owned enterprise, for the past few phases. This delay, they pointed out, has resulted in a decrease in milk collection as farmers have been compelled to switch to private dairies. The financial strain on the farmers has been compounded by the soaring input costs, specifically the price of fodder, which has affected the affordability of dairy farming.
The Promised Incentive: A Ray of Hope
Amidst these taxing circumstances, the sangham emphasized the need for the promised election incentive of Rs 5 per litre to be approved. This proposed increase, they highlighted, is crucial and could provide much-needed relief to dairy farmers. Moreover, the additional income would help the farmers cope with the rising input costs, making dairy farming a viable occupation again.
Insurance, Loans, and Knowledge Enhancement
In addition to the financial assistance, the sangham has put forth a list of demands to further aid the dairy community. Top among these are providing insurance for cattle, facilitating access to bank loans for farmers, and organizing educational sessions. Through these measures, the sangham hopes to improve the expertise of dairy farmers in the industry, ensuring their survival and growth in an increasingly competitive market.
