Patel was elected as chairman just a year ago. On Tuesday, however, he said that he has resigned as chairman of Baroda Dairy following a call given by state BJP chief C R Paatil to follow the ‘one man, one post’ criteria of the party.
Patel is also BJP Vadodara district unit chief. It was in February last year that Patel was appointed as district BJP unit chief replacing Ashwin Patel.
“I am thankful to the party and especially the state BJP chief who assigned me the responsibility. In March last year, the party gave me the mandate after which I became chairman of Baroda Dairy. When fresh elections for the post of chairman and vice-chairman of Baroda Dairy were held in July, I was again appointed as chairman,” said Patel, while announcing his decision to resign from the chairman’s post.
“Since I have worked at the organization level in various capacities for 18 years, I decided to work with the party and work towards its target of winning all the Lok Sabha seats by a margin of 5 lakh votes,” he said, adding that he will work towards improving the victory margin at all the three Lok Sabha seats that fall in Vadodara district.
Regarding chairmanship, he said the party will take a call on who will become the next chairman of Baroda Dairy. G B Solanki, the current vice-chairman of the milk union, will handle the post of chairman, till a new person is elected.
