After being ruled by administrators for over three-and-a-half years, the Goa Dairy will get its board of directors on July 18 with the election of a new board chairman.
Out of the 173 societies, only 167 are entitled to vote in these elections

Returning officer Raju Magdum has announced the election programme.

Elections to the board of Goa State Cooperative Milk Producers’ Union, popularly known as Goa Dairy, was held on June 19 and the Rajesh K Faldessai-Vithoba Desai panel had swept the polls winning nine of 12 seats.
Madhav Sahakari’s ‘Dudh Utpadak Hit Sanvardhan’ (Milk Producers’ Welfare Preserver) panel got two seats and Shrikant Naik’s ‘Utkarsh’ (Prosperity) one.
Altogether 38 members through three panels and two independents were in fray.

The union has a total 173 milk collection societies as its members. However, with five societies failing to provide names of their chairmen, only 167 were eligible to vote.
The last term of the board (2017-22) has passed under administrators. Election for the last term was held on May 7, 2017. Sahakari’s panel had won 11 seats against lone opponent, Aselmo Furtado.
