Yogi Adityanath’s government partners with NDDB to modernize dairy operations and ensure timely payments to farmers across Uttar Pradesh.

In a major push to enhance dairy infrastructure and farmer welfare, the Uttar Pradesh government has transferred key state-run dairy facilities to the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB). The decision aims to bring professional management and modern practices to the sector, ensuring greater transparency, improved productivity, and streamlined supply chains. This move is aligned with the state’s broader goal of transforming UP into a leading dairy-producing region.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath emphasized the importance of ensuring timely payments to dairy farmers as a top priority. The collaboration with NDDB is expected to strengthen this commitment, helping over 1.5 lakh farmers receive prompt remuneration for their milk. Delayed payments have long been a concern in the state, impacting farmer morale and financial stability.

The NDDB will now oversee the operations of four major units: the Pradesh Cooperative Dairy Federation, the Lucknow Milk Union, the Varanasi Milk Union, and the Gorakhpur Milk Union. These entities will now benefit from NDDB’s extensive expertise in cooperative dairy management, quality control, and capacity building. The state is confident this step will revitalize the sector and promote self-reliance.

A key component of the reform includes upgrading milk processing plants and chilling centers to meet rising demand. The NDDB will also facilitate training programs for dairy workers, helping them adopt best practices in animal husbandry, hygiene, and cold-chain logistics. The enhanced facilities and know-how are expected to boost overall milk production and farmer earnings in the region.

The partnership is being hailed as a milestone in Uttar Pradesh’s dairy journey, one that blends local ambition with national expertise. With NDDB now at the helm, the Yogi administration is hopeful of building a robust, farmer-centric dairy model that can serve as a template for other Indian states aiming to modernize their milk economies.
