State Dairy Federation partners with NDDB to revive operations and ensure timely payments to milk producers.
In a major move to revitalize the dairy sector, the Uttar Pradesh government has signed a pact with the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB) to transfer the management of three key dairy plants in the state. The agreement aims to modernize operations and ensure timely payments to dairy farmers, enhancing rural livelihoods.
The memorandum of understanding was signed between the Pradeshik Cooperative Dairy Federation (PCDF) and NDDB Dairy Services. It grants NDDB operational control of dairy units in Gorakhpur, Kanpur, and Varanasi for a period of 30 years, marking a strategic shift in how these facilities are managed.
These plants, previously plagued by inefficiencies and financial losses, will now be operated by Mother Dairy, a wholly owned NDDB subsidiary. The expectation is that NDDB’s proven dairy management model will restore profitability and efficiency, while streamlining procurement and boosting farmer confidence.
NDDB has pledged to invest in infrastructure upgrades, marketing, and farmer support systems. A key objective is to ensure that milk producers are paid within 10 days of delivery, directly into their bank accounts, promoting transparency and improving farmer trust in the cooperative system.
The initiative is part of a broader effort by the Yogi Adityanath-led government to empower dairy farmers and expand milk processing capacity across the state. Officials view the collaboration with NDDB as a long-term solution to past operational challenges, setting a precedent for other regions.
