Batticaloa District MP Shanakiyan Rasamanickam has highlighted the protest carried out by dairy farmers of Mayilathamadu, raising concerns over the illegal settlements in the area.

Batticaloa District MP Shanakiyan Rasamanickam has highlighted the protest carried out by dairy farmers of Mayilathamadu, raising concerns over the illegal settlements in the area.

Taking to ‘X’, MP Rasamanickam pointed out that the farmers have been protesting for the 15th consecutive day today over the alleged illegal settlements in the grazing lands which they have been using for over 60 years.

It is reported that the dairy farmers are protesting as settlers have allegedly illegally occupied these lands, killing cows and setting the lands on fire.

Through their protest, the dairy farmers are demanding the continued use of the reserved grazing lands.

Commenting on the protest, MP Shanakiyan Rasamanickam said that the protest will continue till this issue is resolved. (NewsWire)
