The Magh Bihu celebrations multiplied for Purabi Dairy and its stakeholders this year as the largest dairy cooperative in the Northeast experienced a remarkable surge in the sales of both milk and dairy products.
In the lead-up to Magh Bihu, the volume of milk sales saw an impressive 20 per cent increase, while the milk equivalent of dairy products volume witnessed a staggering 27 per cent growth. These remarkable figures underscore the overwhelming support and affection of customers towards Purabi Dairy’s diverse range of products.
In a statement, West Assam Milk Producers’ Cooperative Union Ltd (WAMUL), which operates the Purabi Dairy brand, said that sales of curds grew by 28 per cent during the period. Similarly, the sale of cream also showcased significant gains as it grew by 24 per cent along with paneer which witnessed 31 per cent increase in sales as compared to last Bhogali Bihu.
The dairy cooperative, which is increasing its product portfolio in the coming months with the introduction of ice cream and flavoured milk, added that the love and trust of the customers in Purabi products enables them to provide better livelihood to the thousands of dairy farmers of the state. WAMUL has been at the forefront of enabling farmers in the state to be ‘Aatmanirbhar’ through dairying as envisioned by prime minister Narendra Modi.
